Installation

Installing it takes about ten minutes: copy two folders, run one SQL file and add a few lines to server.cfg. Your players keep the looks they already had.

Difficulty: Beginner · You need: the server files, the database and server.cfg

Before you start

RequirementDetails
FiveM serverOneSync on, on a recent server artifact.
ox_libStarted before ZAIDERS Appearance.
oxmysqlStarted before ZAIDERS Appearance. Without it nothing is saved.
FrameworkQBCore, Qbox or ESX. It is found on its own. Without a framework the menu still opens, but nothing is charged or saved.
DatabaseMySQL 5.7 or later, or MariaDB 10.2 or later.
Game buildAny. Tattoos and peds from a newer GTA update only show on servers whose game build includes them.

One clothing menu at a time

If you run two clothing menus, they both answer the same events and both open on a new character. Step 5 stops the old one. Your players' saved looks stay where they are.

Steps

  1. Download it from the Cfx.re Portal

ZAIDERS Appearance is a Cfx.re escrowed asset. After you buy it, sign in at portal.cfx.re with the same Cfx.re account and download it from Granted assets.

The server must use a license key made with that same account. If it doesn't, the console shows You lack the required entitlement and the resource doesn't start. See Asset Escrow & Clothing.

  2. Copy the two folders

Put zaiders_appearance and zaiders_fotos in your resources folder. A category folder such as resources/[zaiders]/ works too.

Keep both folder names as they are. Other scripts call the menu as exports.zaiders_appearance, and the config looks for the photos in zaiders_fotos.

  3. Run the SQL file

Open your database with HeidiSQL, phpMyAdmin or the MySQL console. Select the server's database (in the console, USE your_database;) and run Appearancez.sql.

Tables that already exist are left untouched, so the looks and outfits your players already had keep working. The resource also creates its own tables the first time it needs them. If a table is still missing, the console tells you its name.

  4. Add it to server.cfg

Add it after ox_lib, oxmysql and your framework, with zaiders_fotos first:

    ini
    ensure ox_lib
    ensure oxmysql
    ensure qb-core # or qbx_core, or es_extended

    ensure zaiders_fotos
    ensure zaiders_appearance

    add_ace group.admin zaiders_appearance.admin allow

The add_ace line opens the admin panel to your group.admin. Admins of qb-core (god, admin) and of ESX (admin, superadmin) get in too. See Commands & permissions.

  5. Stop your previous clothing menu

Remove or comment out the ensure of the menu you used before, for example qb-clothing, illenium-appearance or fivem-appearance. Saved looks keep working because ZAIDERS Appearance reads the same tables: playerskins on QBCore and Qbox, users.skin on ESX.

    • ESX with esx_multicharacter: keep esx_skin and skinchanger running, because esx_multicharacter needs them to start. New characters are made with esx_skin's menu; the shops, barber, tattoos and wardrobe are this menu's.
    • ESX without a multicharacter: you can stop both esx_skin and skinchanger. This menu answers in their place and opens its own creator for new characters.

Outfits and job uniforms from illenium-appearance or qb-clothing can be brought over with one console command. See Coming from another menu.

  6. Review the config

Open zaiders_appearance/shared/config.lua. It comes in English (Config.Locale = 'en'). For Spanish, set Config.Locale = 'es'. The other languages are listed in Languages & texts.

Check at least the language, the prices (Config.Prices) and who is an admin (Config.AdminAces). Everything else has working defaults. See the Config reference.

  7. Start the server and read the console

On start, the console names the framework it found:

    text
    [zaiders_appearance] framework: qb

It says qb (QBCore), qbx (Qbox), esx or none. If something is missing (a table, the framework, oxmysql) or a config value is written wrong, it says so in the same place. See What the console says.

  8. Join once with an admin

The server learns which garment is behind each number from an admin's game, the first time an admin is online. Do this after installing, and again every time you add or remove a clothing pack. Until then, garments limited to a job, a VIP group or out of stock are recognized from what each player's game reports. See What the server checks.

  9. Try it

    • Walk into a clothing store on the map and press E.
    • Type /zappearance panel to open ZAIDERS Studio, the admin panel.
    • Make a new character: the creator opens on its own.

The menu shows a drawing for each garment until you take the catalog photos. See Catalog photos.

What the console says

All of these lines start with [zaiders_appearance].

MessageWhat to do

oxmysql is missing: without a database nothing is saved.Add ensure oxmysql before the resource.
